I took the picture below at Elephant Butte Lake, New Mexico. The scale of the photo can be realized by comparing the boats in the water. The name “Elephant Butte” refers to a volcanic core similar to Devils Tower  in  Wyoming. It is now an island in the lake. The butte was said to have the shape of an elephant lying on its side. The Lake is just a few miles north of True or Consequences, NM.
